Islamic Cairo Private Tour

Our (Seba Tours Egypt) tour guide will pick you up by the air conditioned private vehicle to visit one of the Great and Stunning constructions in Islamic Cairo “The Citadel of Saladin Al Ayouby”. Which is located near Mokattam Hill. It was established in 12th century to defend Cairo against the Crusaders campaigns. The citadel was used as the ruling center of Egypt during the medieval ages. On the same area of the Citadel, you will witness the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali Pasha which is situated on the highest spot inside the courtyard of the Citadel of Saladin. It’s considered one of the landmarks in Cairo with its huge space, the beautiful ornaments on its sides and walls, and its magnificent domes and minarets.

Moving on to the Citadel Square where you will visit two magnificent Islamic buildings starting with “Sultan Hassan Madrasa and Mosque” which combines strength and splendour, elegance and beauty, as well as a multiplicity of decoration. It’s considered as one of the remarkable monuments in the Islamic world.

Then crossing the street to visit “Al Refaie Mosque” which is situated in front of Sultan Hassan Madrasa. It was built by Khoshiar Hanim, the mother of 19th Century Khedive Ismail . It’s known also as the Royal Mosque , as many members of the royal Family of Mohamed Ali Pasha are buried beneath the mosque.

After that going to visit “Ahmed Ibn Tulun Mosque “ which is considered as the second oldest mosque that still exists in Egypt. And you can take some beautiful photos from the top of its unique minaret then proceeding to Gayer Anderson Museum which is located next to the mosque of Ahmed Ibn Tulun. This Museum was intended to be a house Sir Gayer Andersons one the high commanders in the British Army during the colonial period in Egypt…and there are many beautiful collections and monuments exhibited inside this house from different eras of the Egyptian History .

You will continue your tour among the Islamic Civilization, and the next stop will be at Tent Makers Market (Known as Khayamiya) which is located on the southern side of Bab Zuweila where you will witness many authentic shops offering Good Quality textile products imitating beautiful pictures and scenes related to the Egyptian Culture and History.

Then, going to wander along the 1000 years old "Muizz" street. One of the oldest streets in Cairo. And it is considered as an open-air museum for its wonderful Islamic Buildings from the Medieval ages which are ornamented with different patterns and paints such as (Mosques, Schools “Madrassa”, and Mausoleums ), After that ending the tour with a walking tour at Khan el Khalili Bazaar. It is one of Cairo's important landmarks in the heart of Islamic Cairo ...You can wander around the Bazaar now where you will find many souvenirs shops, coffeehouses "Café" such as al famed (Al Fishawy Cafe) serving Arabic coffee, delicious Egyptian Tea and offering Hookah "Shisha", and decision local Egyptian restaurants throughout the area.

Once the tour is complete, you will be transferred back to the hotel to stay overnight
