In the early morning at 7.00 am, Our (Seba Tours Egypt) Tour Guide will escort you from your hotel by a private air conditioned 4 × 4 vehicle to travel to Fayoum Oasis (About 90 KM distance , and Less than 2 Hrs. Driving from Cairo). Fayoum is a natural green oasis that lies in the West Desert, south west of Cairo . It was called (Crocodopolis) in ancient Egypt during the Greco Roman era, because It was the cult center for worshiping The Crocodile God “Sobek”.
Upon arrival you will take a Photo Stop at the Cornice of the largest salt water lake in Egypt “Lake Qarun”, The lake is now an important bird area where thousands of migratory birds rest during their winter migration pattern south. The Lake is also considered one of the oldest natural lakes in the world.
Then, you will turn towards the desert and head to visit the Valley of the Whales "Wadi Hitan" Protectorate, which is a home to the earliest prehistoric whale fossils ever discovered. There are many Basilosaurus and Dorodontus skeletons found here are around 40 million years old and show the clear evolution of land-based mammals into sea-going ones, as they have vestigial front and back legs. You will start your tour there with a visit to (Wadi Al Hittan Fossil & Climate Change Museum) where you will learn the history and nature of this area . then you will go on a walking tour around the Open air Museum around the valley to witness the different fossils and skeletons from different eras. This site is considered as Unesco World Heritage Site since July 2005.
After finishing this visit, you will head back towards “Wadi al-Rayan” Protectorate, and on your way back , you will have stop at the Magic Lake which is an isolated lake which is supplied by water beneath the sand dunes from the lakes of Wadi Rayyan. It’s a lovely place to take some photos and sit by its shore to have some time to rest.
Then you will proceed your way to “Wadi al-Rayan” Protectorate, which is considered as Protected Area since 1989. You will witness there the amazing nature scenery of water and desert in one place , and the beautiful Waterfalls, where one lake drains into another. t's well worth exploring this fascinating area further.
Five Kilometers further along the road from the lake turn off is the rocky outcrop of Jabal Al Modawara (Mudawara Mountain), fairly easy to climb and a great place to take some unique photos, to memorize this adventure. Its layered appearance is gorgeous.
After this wonderful trip you will head back to your hotel in Cairo to stay overnight.
