Our TripAdvisor Reviews
You will go accompanied by our (Seba Tours Egypt) tour guide in a tour among the historical mosques of Cairo starting with Al-Azhar Mosque which is founded by Jawhar al-Siqilly, the Fatimid conqueror of Egypt in 970 AD. It’s one of Cairo's oldest mosques and the world's oldest operating university.
Then moving to the opposite side of Al-Azhar mosque to visit Al-Hussien Mosque which is one of the most sacred sites in Egypt and the Middle East. The mosque hosts the shrine in which the head of al-Hussein, the grandson of Muhammed the Prophet, is alleged to have been buried. The mosque stands in the heart of the square named after Al-Hussien where you can find many local restaurants serving the delicious Egyptian food , you can have lunch at one of them, then you can go shopping some Islamic clothes from the shops around the square, also you can have a walking tour in the 1000 years old "el Moez" street which is considered as an open air museum for Terrific Islamic Buildings which are decorated with different patterns and paints, then going to Khan el Khalili Bazaar which is one of Cairo's main attractions .the district of Khan el Khalili was originally a mausoleum called "el Zaafran" for the burial of Fatimid Caliphs ,after that it became a district for the Turkish community during the Ottoman period , and now it becomes a bazzar where you will find many souvenirs shops ,coffeehouses "Café" serving Arabic coffee and offering Hookah "Shisha.
Then moving on to visit El Sayeda Zeinab Mosque the granddaughter of Mohamed the prophet. The mosque houses the shrine of El Sayeda Zeinab.
After that proceeding to visit El Sayeda Nafisa Mosque who was one of the members of Prophet Mohamed who has a great reputation in Egypt and is regarded as a Saint. The mausoleum was rebuilt and decorated many times since the Fatimid period till now.
Then moving on to visit The Mausoleum of Imam al-Shafi' who was the founder of one of the four rites of Sunni Islam, and is considered to be one of the great Muslim saints. He was a descendant of the Prophet's uncle, Abu Talib, and came to Egypt in the 9th century.
The last destination will be the City of the Dead or (Cairo Necropolis) and take a tour by vehicle around its alleys where you will witness tombs and mausoleums from different periods from the Islamic era, and you will notice that on the decorations and architecture of these tombs and mausoleums. You will find there the inhabitants of this area , who took this graveyard as houses from them due to the high population of Cairo City , and the housing crisis in the heart of the city.
After finishing this unusual day tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
