Our (Seba Tours Egypt) Tour Guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel in Alexandria, then picking you up in a tour to explore the spectacular sights of the city. Starting with Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa , This sight is considered as one of the wonders of the Middle Ages. It resembles the largest burial site dating from the Greco-Roman period. Discovered in Alexandria, a particularly interesting city of antiquity, it was no surprise that what was hidden in the underground burial tunnels for centuries was a blend of different ancient arts and cultures.
Then, moving on to visit the nearby Pompei's Pillar which is a Roman triumphal column in Alexandria, and the largest of its type constructed outside the imperial capitals of Rome and Constantinople. It’s located at the same site of the ancient Greco-Roman Temple (The Serapeum) which is dedicated to God Serapis.
After that going to the sea coast, where you will take a photo stop to the site where the famous lighthouse of Alexandria was established in the past , and it was considered one of the Seven wonders of the Ancient World …and instead of it, you will witness Citadel of Qaitbay which is constructed at the same site of the ancient lighthouse.. and you can notice that from the contrast between the dark stones of the lighthouse on the base near the ground, and the light rocks of the building of the Citadel. The Citadel is situated on the eastern side of the northern tip of Pharos Island at the mouth of the Eastern Harbour.
Then, you can take a walk along the Sea’s Corniche , and breathe the fresh Sea Breeze.
The last stop will be at Alexandria Library (Also Known as Bibliotheca Alexandrina) (You will have access to the library’s open court & free museums). It is a wonderful reincarnation of the famed ancient library of Alexandria. The original library held the largest collection of manuscripts in the world and was a great center of learning for 600 years until it burned down in the 3rd century. The dramatic new library, resembling an angled discus or a great sundial.
After this gorgeous tour around the magnificent sights of Alexandria you will be dropped off at your hotel in Alexandria to stay overnight.
