The Red Pyramid of Snefru at Dahshur is the biggest of the pyramids in the Dahshur Necropolis, just outside Cairo, Egypt. In some places, it is also known as the North Pyramid. The Red Pyramid of “King Snefru” is Egypt’s newest and most impressive pyramid, and it was built after the failed Romboidal Pyramid. It is the third largest pyramid in Egypt, after those of his son Cheops and grandson Chephren.
About The Red Pyramid

It’s possible that the Rhomboidal Pyramid was the first building ever made to look like a pyramid. Depending on who built the intermediate pyramid, the Rhomboidal Pyramid of Snefru may have been the first or second pyramid built in Snefru after the Step Pyramid of Snefru. It could have also been the third pyramid. Most people agree that Egypt’s Old Kingdom king Snefru was the first king of the Fourth Dynasty.
During his rule, trade with other countries grew, mining trips were sent out, and with the help of his engineer and advisor, Imhotep, the pyramid’s design was finished. He then built more pyramids, some of which are still standing today. During his rule, he also made many pyramids, some of which are still there today.
Before the Red Pyramid was built in Dahshur, the Rhomboid Pyramid was there. People often call the rhomboid pyramid a false pyramid or a blunt pyramid, and this pyramid was known in ancient Egypt as Snefru Shines-South.
The Red Pyramid is one of the Dahshur area’s tallest and most noticeable pyramids. Because the red limestones used to build it gave it a rusty color, this pyramid got its name from how it looks, and it was the first pyramid with a complete system of levels.
The so-called “Red Pyramid” wasn’t red, as it turns out. It used to be lined with white limestone from Tura, but now only a few stones remain in a corner at the base of the pyramid.
In the Middle Ages, Tura sent a lot of white limestones that were mined there to Cairo. Because of this, red limestone buried under the city was found.
After several failed attempts, Snefru was able to build a complete pyramid. In Dahshur, he built another pyramid, but this one had a dent or crack in it. He did this because he wanted better luck. He made the first Meidum pyramid, but it fell soon after it was finished. This math mistake might have made him think that the building wasn’t an actual pyramid.
With a height of 105 meters, the pyramid is an impressive building. The people who built this pyramid used what they had learned from Dahshur and Meidum to make Egypt’s first real pyramid. When it was built, this massive stone building, which people in the area called the “Pyramid of Bats,” was the tallest in the world.
