When you get to Aswan, you'll see the High Dam. It was built in 1960 to protect Egypt from the floods that happen every year. Next, let your spirit soar at the unfinished obelisk, where you can see the glory of the Pharaohs and how they cut obelisks. There are two stories about how this obelisk was built. Last, have a tasty lunch in Aswan before going back to Marsa Alam.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan at 4:00 AM and drive you to Abu Simbel, where you'll see two temples: the Temple of Queen Nefertari and the Temple of Ramses II. Both were built during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II. During Ramses II's rule, the two impressive temples were first carved out of living rock. The Great Temple at Abu Simbel was built over about twenty years and was a place of worship for Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah. The Small Temple, also called the Temple of Hathor and Nefertari, was a place of worship for the goddess Hathor and Rameses II's wife, Nefertari. It is thought that this was the only other temple in Egypt that was built for a queen. After lunch will be served at a restaurant in Aswan, and our guide will take you back to Marsa Alam.
